Fit For Hockey:

This course, developed by Action Innovation in cooperation with and delivered in partnership with the City Of Ottawa and CARHA Hockey, offers an opportunity for adult hockey players to get in shape to play hockey. Take a look at CARHA Hockey link for description of this course and registration links (right hand side of the page). Registration for this course is done through the City Of Ottawa not via Action Innovation's registration.

Power Skating and Conditioning:

Specifically designed for competitive players looking to improve their skating stride and efficiency. The conditioning portion of the course will force each player to maintain their efficient stride to the point of exhaustion. An excellent course for try-out/training camp preparation.

Hockey 101:

Intended to develop the adult player's practical skills and provide a theoretical understanding of positional play. We combine practical instruction/practice (14 hours) with theoretical classroom time (~10 hours). This course is for adults who want to continue their skill development while enhancing their understanding of the game.

Power Skating:

The term ‘Power Skating’ refers to a player's ability to combine balance, agility, strength and knowledge of (skate) blade edges into efficient movement on the ice. This course focuses development on these fundamentals to build control and speed into all aspects of skating.

Puck Skills:

This course is designed specifically to develop an individual’s puck-handling skills, passing and receiving skills, and shooting skills. The drills used to reinforce proper technique build on one another so that as the participant becomes confident with the basic skills, they are challenged to use those skills in motion and eventually in game simulation drills.

Two-Generation Puck Skills:

This course offers parents and children a unique opportunity to develop and practice their puck skills (see Puck Skills course description) together. Instruction and drills are designed to allow you and your child to learn these skills in a fun and challenging environment often using each other as a partner.

Combined Power Skating and Puck Control:

Designed for those who feel comfortable with the ‘Power Skating’ course content and are ready to challenge themselves by maintaining puck control during all aspects of skating. The objective of this course is to make the combination of skating and puck skills second nature to the developing player so they can focus attention on the game’s situational play.

Skill drills:

This program offers players the opportunity to reinforce their puck (handling, passing/receiving, shooting) and skating skills in a fast paced practice environment. It is designed to keep players active with only appropriate rest breaks for the entire ice session. Efficiently run drills will allow participants to enjoy an aspect of hockey that adult recreational players often miss out on ... practice.
